My coaching stint came to an end after the WBPF/ABBF Asian Championships held in Maldives recently. I was hired by the Youth n Sports Ministry of the Rebublic of Maldives for 3 months to prep the national team for this year's event.
Overall I'm happy and satisfied with the results. 3 golds, 1 silver n 3 bronzes which was the best results ever for Maldives at a international bodybuilding contest. Met the Sports Minister (Hon Maalof) for post morten discussion following the contest. He said that he never saw the team so well prepared before and was very happy with the results. Tht means a whole lot for me. We got a gold each in Sports Physique, Athletic Physique n Open Bodybuilding. Before this, the best achievement was 1 gold at the South Asian Championships a few years back.
I was happy to have worked with them (officials of BBAM and the Sports Ministry) as they are hard working, smart n generous people. 3 really tough months with the athletes (being away with my family doesn't help neither) but I enjoyed so much the journey seeing them getting in shape. Training twice a day 6 days a week, morning fasted cardio and post training cardio for some, personalised diet n supplementation programs n lots n lots of posing practice final 5 weeks before show time. Troubleshooting along the way too for those who did not respond well. Both mentally and physically challenging esp when I was also competing at the same time. My assistant Mr Haseeb did a fantastic job too. Without him it would hv been a lot more difficult.
We were like a family and the team spirit was very good too. They were all united n worked very very hard towards a common goal tht was to bring glories to their country which many of them did. I'm so proud of u guys! All good things must come to an end though.
I was really well taken care off during the whole duration there (they fully prepared diet meals for me n washed n ironed my clothes). My focus was 100% on coaching n coaching only. Very professionally done! Kudos to BBAM and the Youth n Sports Ministry of Maldives. As a token of appreciation they gave me a vacation at one of the resorts after the contest as I needed a break so much. Haha.
Overall it was a successful trip for me. Of course there was some hiccups (more on personal matters) along the journey but I ain't complaining! My objective of coming here (coaching) has been met n that's beyond everything for me! I thank The Almighty for giving me this opportunity n successfully completed it. Amen. 🙏💪🙏
